2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i with New Turbo Four pricing,specs,wallpapers

One by one, vehicles with BMW’s soulful naturally aspirated inline-six are biting the dust. As expected, BMW has announced that the 2013 X3 xDrive 28i crossover will swap the 3.0-liter inline-six for a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four. (Based on our experiences with the latter engine so far, it’s also pretty good, if not as linear as its predecessor.) The X3 will be the fourth BMW—following the 3-series, 5-series, and Z4—to swap the six for the blown four. As for the more powerful X3 xDrive35i, it keeps its turbocharged straight-six and gains more standard equipment for 2013.

The 2013 X3 xDrive28i’s turbo four makes the same 240 hp as the six it replaces, but whips up an additional 39 lb-ft of peak torque; the latter occurs at lower rpm, too. The current X3’s eight-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive system remain, while previously optional 18-inch wheels are now standard on the xDrive28i. Both four- and six-cylinder X3 models gain a power-operated tailgate and engine stop/start technology as standard equipment. The start/stop system (Auto Start Stop in BMW-speak) helps save fuel by shutting the engine down when the vehicle comes to a stop; the system can be turned off. The X3’s economy also is aided by the newly standard Driver Dynamics Control; besides the usual Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ chassis settings, it also includes an Eco Pro mode, that reduces accessories’ power draw and dulls throttle and transmission response.

There’s more tech: A lane-departure warning system is now available as part of a new Driver Assistance package, which also includes automatic high-beam control and, on xDrive35i models, BMW’s color head-up display. Finally, the xDrive28i’s M Sport package becomes more comprehensive, with a set of 19-inch wheels, a body kit, and sport seats.

2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i with 2.0L will start at $37995

What will the new engine and added standard kit cost? Not all that much: The xDrive28i’s price increases from $37,995 to $39,395 and the xDrive35i’s from $43,595 to $44,495. Both models will hit showrooms in May.

Hennessey has announced plans to unveil a new 2011 Hennessey Venom GT at the Pebble Beach Debut on Wednesday, August 17.

The bright yellow Venom GT will also be on display at the RM Auction at the Portolla Plaza hotel in downtown Monterey from Thursday, August 18 through Saturday, August 20.

This is the car you buy when a Bugatti Veyron seems common, and a flight on Virgin Galactic isn’t quite quick enough. The Hennessey Venom GT supercar packs a 1,200-bhp turbocharged V-8, and is supposedly capable of 275 mph – or roughly 10 mph quicker than the fastest time ever record by a Bugatti.

The Hennessey Venom GT is powered by GM’s supercharged 6.2L LS9 V8, which has been modified to produce 725 hp. In addition, Hennessey will also offer 1,000-hp and 1,200 hp twin-turbo V8 engine variants. Weighing in less than 2,400 pounds, the Venom GT is capable of doing 0-60 mph in 2.2 seconds and will keep going until it hits 262 mph.

Venom GT to Make First Appearance at Monterey Classic Car Weekend

MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA - Hennessey Performance (HPE) will unveil the company's 1,200 HP, ultra-lightweight Venom GT supercar on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the McCall's Motorworks Revival. Held each year at the Monterey Jet Center, Gordon McCall's party kicks-off the Monterey / Pebble Beach weekend.

Fresh from its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Hennessey Venom GT will be making its first appearance at Monterey. "We are very excited to have the opportunity to show the Venom GT to our friends and fellow enthusiasts at what has become one of the biggest and best car enthusiast events in the world," says CEO, Don Goldman. "Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival combines serious car enthusiasts, world-class cars and aircraft, all in one fantastic party."

The bright "Bug-killer" yellow Venom GT will also be on display at the RM Auction at the Portolla Plaza hotel in downtown Monterey from Thursday, August 18 through Saturday, August 20.

Hennessey builds just five Venom GTs per year, making it one of the most exclusive supercars currently built. Available in both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations, the Venom GT costs $950,000 US Dollars, plus optional upgrades and shipping. Each vehicle is hand-built over a period of six months by a small team of craftsmen at the company's facilities in Sealy, Texas, Lake Forest, California and Silverstone, England.

"Twelve hundred horsepower combined with in a mid-engine chassis that weighs twelve hundred kilos (2,685 lbs) - no other road car and only a handful of race cars can match the power to weight ratio of the Venom GT," added HPE president and founder, John Hennessey. "It is a driver's car, a supercar with a soul that will give you as much speed and performance as you dare ask of it".
