There are no conventional doors on the car, but instead, inspired by the jet fighters, there are three glass canopies. The main canopy opens forward together with the steering wheel and the dashboard; the two passengers’ canopies open backwards; and a side panel on the bodywork opens downwards to act as a step, making the event of getting in and out of the cockpit very special and easy.
The Audi A9 is a futuristic proposal for a luxury sport sedan which, in Audi’s car fleet, will be positioned higher than the Audi A8 flagship and will be aimed at the luxury sedan segment which includes models such as Porsche Panamera and the Lamborghini Estoque Concept. The designer, Daniel Garcia, found his inspiration in the architectural designs of Santiago Calatrava’s buildings in “La Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias” meaning The City Of Arts And Sciences which can be found in Valencia, the designers hometown. This strong influence can be seen in the clean flowing lines of the vehicle and futuristic styling features. Calatrava’s buildings look like they come from 100 years in the future.
The A9 concept has amazing features and yet to be discovered revolutionary materials. The windscreen and roof are integrated into a single piece, created using an advanced nano-technology material, which features a self-repairing system and allows for adjustments in color and opacity. The bodywork adapts an electronic painting system which allows the owner to change the color at the touch of a button. Another interesting feature of this structure is that is deformable, meaning it provides greater protection for the passengers than a glass windscreen, in a collision. The proposed drive train is a hybrid setup which uses an internal combustion engine working in conjunction with 4 in-wheel electric motors. This concept is the key to future car design, manufacturing technology, safety standards and user experience.
I’ve been enjoying driving from the moment I learned how to drive a car. I used to enjoy my daily morning drive to work when I was still an employee. Fresh air in the morning, not so crowded street, listening to soft music from the radio, a perfect 20 minutes alone. Due to rapid population growth, driving in the future might create more frustration than joy, especially in overcrowded cities. People will either use high-tech vehicles or public transport. The feeling of individual mobility, however, contributes a lot to the impression of freedom enjoyed by many motorists.
Created in cooperation with Audi AG, the Audi RH Concept carries Audi’s brand values. RH promotes enjoyable driving experience, a compact and lightweight transportation for the year of 2015. This car has been designed to carry only 2 passengers in a very narrow space (3.2 meters long). The interior features minimalist design. The driver seatis located in the middle of the vehicle and the second seat for the passenger is located behind. This increases the feeling of narrowness, which strongly contributes to the driving experience. As you can see the overall design was inspired by a lightweight aeroplane in both styling and construction.
