Alfa Romeo 4C Concept New Color

Instead of presenting the final production version of is 4C mid-engine sports coupe at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show, Alfa Romeo will once again display the concept model but with a different paint job.
The new color is named 'Fluid Metal' with Alfa claiming that it "dynamically enhances the smooth and sinuous lines of the car". We find it much better looking than the washed out matte red shown on the original Geneva Salon concept.
Other than that, the two-seater model keeps the same 200-horsepower, 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mounted behind the passenger cabin driving the rear wheels through a twin clutch automatic transmission.
The 4 meter long concept makes liberal use of carbon fibre in its construction to keep weight at a low 850kg or 1,873 pounds for a power to weight ratio of less than 4kg per HP, with Alfa promising a sub-5.0 seconds sprint to 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) and a top speed of over 250 km/h (155 mph).
The 4C is expected to enter production next year.

Alfa Romeo Updates Giulietta with Twin-Clutch Transmission

The…freshly painted version of the 4C sports coupe concept will be joined at Alfa Romeo's Frankfurt Motor Show stand by the updated variants of the Giulietta and Mito hatchbacks.
The Giulietta gains Alfa Romeo's new double-clutch TCT transmission that will be offered on the 1.4-liter turbocharged MultiAir gasoline engine and the 2.0-liter turbodiesel, both of which have a maximum output of 170HP.
With the TCT, average fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on the petrol model fall to 5.2 lt/100 km (45.2 mpg US) and 121g/km respectively, and on the diesel to 4.5 lt/100 km (52.3 mpg US) and 119 g/km respectively.
And that’s without sacrificing performance. In fact, the 1.4 MultiAir’s time for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint is 7.7 seconds and its top speed reaches 218 km/h (135.4 mph). Likewise, in the 2.0 JTDM the TCT brings the Giulietta to the top of its class, with a 7.9 seconds time for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint.
Alfa’s smallest model, the 3-door MiTo, will also show something new to visitors of the Frankfurt Motor Show: the new 0.9-liter, turbocharged two-cylinder TwinAir engine that we first saw at the Fiat 500 and which won the coveted “International Engine of the Year 2011” award. The two-cylinder unit develops 85HP and, depending on the DNA program, 110-145Nm of torque.
According to the Italians, its MultiAir technology and the auto Stop-Start system enable the new version of the MiTo to consume up to 30% less fuel than engines with comparable performance and at the same time achieve a best-in-class CO2 emissions figure of just 98 g/km.
In addition, the new MiTo MultiAir will be offered in a new “Nero Ametista” body color along with new-design alloy wheels and a two-tone black dashboard and mesh seat trim.
Last, but not least, the MiTo will soon get a new 1.3-liter JTDM turbodiesel engine with variable turbocharger technology and Start-Stop technology as standard. Like its petrol counterpart, this second generation Multijet engine has an output of 85HP and is Euro5 compliant. It emits 90 g of CO2 per km, its average consumption is only 3.5 lt/100 km (67.2 mpg US) falling to much as 2.9 lt/100 km (81.1 mpg) on the highway.

2011 Alfa Romeo C4 Review

Alfa Romeo Supercar Concept Notes Back To The U.S. Market.
Attracting crowds ever when it premiered at the Geneva Motor Show last week, Alfa Romeo 4C new concept has been at the forefront of almost all publishers of language as a favorite. Although the design of the attraction of the two doors of clear matte red flower heads are attractive again, the marriage of inspiration with a super compact production in 2012 and offers a more audacious, perhaps even a welcome return to U.S. market brand. Based on the success of the flagship, the 8C Competizione Limited Edition was introduced in 2007, as well as the 8C Spider, RWD 4C parties seem "shaped by the wind." Designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the body does not only quote lines of vintage Alfa Romeo, including the famous 6C 6C 1500 and 2500, but uses the same weight and the distribution ratio, which made those cars so fast.

4C that the lack of power (four-cylinder for the eight muscles of his predecessors), it compensates with a provision for retaining a more wily and light, composed mainly of carbon rear and aluminum to ensure maximum Agility, which is not the engine does not pack a punch. A 200 hp with a top speed of 250 km / h, a new "double dry clutch" transmission, ranging from zero to 100 km in less than five seconds) and a system that eliminates turbo lag, which may find that the gasoline engine in production models such as the Giulietta, Alfa compact fans salivating for it to enter the United States.

If the parent brand Fiat to come to the United States is any indication, probably used in the Chrysler Forum 4C, which would make the first model hit these shores since the Alfa Spider and stopped producing the mid 90s. While there is no word of pricing yet, (even if it falls somewhere in the $ 100,000 competition's label), here's hoping the repairs comes with it.

Alfa Romeo 4C concept at the 2011 Geneva auto show

A rather sleek carbon fiber body, curvy lines, a short wheelbase (just 2.4m) and a very efficient powerplant under the hood, that’s what makes Alfa Romeo 4C stand out in the mini-supercar market.

The engine outputs 200hp (funny how the same engine does 225hp in the Giulietta 1750 Tbi) and helps the car sprint from naught to 62mph in less than 5 seconds, to a top speed of around 155mph.

Could the 4C be the vehicle that finally brings "Alfa Romeo" back into the United States market? Alfa says, “Yes.”

At the introduction of the Alfa Romeo 4C concept here on Tuesday, Harald J. Wester, the Italian marque’s chief executive, said the eventual production vehicle was being designed to be sold in markets worldwide, “including the United States.”

When Fiat Group, Alfa’s parent, increased its ownership stake in Chrysler, a preliminary plan was sketched out — and then put on hold — to bring the Alfa Romeo MiTo subcompact to Chrysler dealerships.

One of the most talked about cars at the 2011 Geneva auto show, the Alfa Romeo 4C Concept previews a forthcoming production model called the 4C GTA. The beautiful coupe, covered in a hypnotic, deep-red matte paint, is described by Alfa as the “true essence of a sports car,” and the rear-wheel-drive, mid-engine layout suggests just that. Further details: Weight distribution is said to be 40-percent front/60-percent rear, the power runs through a dual-clutch gearbox, and the car is equipped with Alfa’s “DNA” chassis-adjustment system that includes Dynamic, Normal, and All-Weather modes. Yes, “globally” would mean the United States, too, and 2012 coincidentally remains Fiat’s target date for Alfa’s American repatriation (the ultra-limited 8C Competizione and Spider notwithstanding). Can Alfa Romeo really build a lightweight sports car teeming with carbon fiber and sell it at a competitive price? Recent reports have pegged Alfa Romeo as working with Dallara on an affordable carbon-fiber chassis for the production 4C.

Alfa Romeo sports unveil a concept car in Geneva next month

Alfa Romeo sports car brand will unveil a concept car in Geneva next month to try to raise its profile at the international motor show and beyond.

Alfa Romeo loses money for Fiat, and the concept car would be in line with the Italian car maker's drive to revive the brand by creating some spark at a time when it lacks a new model to show the public.

No one will ever think of "Alfa Romeo" as a value brand, but the floundering Italian marque has always earned admirers with passionate designs aimed straight at the enthusiast core. Alfa has been going through a rough patch, and help is reportedly on the way in the form of a small coupe concept to bow at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Expected to wear the 4C GTA name, the two-seater will be rear-drive, mid-engined, and lightweight, all qualities that will leave enthusiasts weak-kneed and brimming with anticipation. GTA stands for Gran Turismo Alleggerita, also the name of a popular classic Alfa coupe. The concept was designed by the brand’s styling center in Turin, Italy, but details remain close to Alfa’s chest. According to British publication Autocar, Alfa insiders have already dubbed the 4C a “baby 8C.” Apparently, there’s a curb weight target of 850 kilograms (1784 pounds) in place--Once built, Alfa expects to sell around 5000 4Cs per year.
Alfa Romeo expects to start production on a rear-engine, rear-drive coupe, the 4C GTA, in 2012 which is priced at a more affordable 40,000 euros.

Flagship car
Compared to the Alfa 8C Competizione, Alfa Romeo’s most popular model sold at 200,000 Euros, the 4C GTA will come with a more affordable price tag at 40,000 Euros.
The 4C GTA is planned to be a two-seat coupe with a casual-stylish, extremely low design and lightweight construction. Last year, the Giulietta compact went on sale but worldwide sales for the Alfa experienced only a slight increase at 10.2%, or 112,000 cars. 4C GTA features

The 4C GTA will be powered by a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder gasoline engine with horsepower output of more than 250 hp.

Alfa Romeo is famous for their sports cars and coupes, which include current models such as the Alfa Romeo MiTo, Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Alfa Romeo 159, Alfa Romeo GT, Alfa Romeo Spider, and Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. Future models include the 4C GTA, Giulia sedan, and Alfa Romeo SUV.

Alfa Romeo is set to finish a concept car on the lightweight rear-drive coupe to be presented next month in a Geneva auto show debut.

In addition the brand-new Alfa TCT, first applied to the Alfa Mito, is combined with the Start&Stop system in order to minimise consumption levels and CO2 emissions (121 g/km for the 170 HP 1.4 MultiAir).
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was designed with two ‘souls', one more sporty and capable of expressing great agility over the most demanding routes, and one more functional, with qualities of roominess and comfort on everyday roads. These performances are achieved by the new Compact architecture which, thanks to the sophisticated technical solutions employed for the suspension, the dual pinion active steering, the sturdy and light materials used and the manufacturing technologies implemented, allows the Giulietta to achieve excellent levels both in terms of on-board comfort and dynamics and safety features (active and passive). It is no coincidence that the car has achieved the prestigious 5 Euro NCAP stars and an overall score of 87/100 with the new 2010 rating: an extraordinary result that makes it the safest compact ever.
Two other versions of the Giulietta will be lined up on the stand at the Paris Show: a 105 HP Distinctive 1.6 JTDM and a Quadrifoglio Verde with a 235 HP 1750 TBi engine. The first engine is dedicated to all those in search of a car with character and a distinctive style, affording the typical agility and handling of an Alfa Romeo yet able to combine these qualities with limited running costs. The 105 HP 1.6 JTDM is a flexible and eco-friendly diesel engine that will surprise customers due to its prompt response (in Dynamic mode, the max. torque is a generous 320 Nm at just 1750 rpm) combined with extremely low fuel consumption (in the extra-urban cycle, it is just 3.7 l/100 km). This is possible thanks to the combination of MultiJet 2 technology and the Start&Stop system.
Separate mention must be made of the high performance 235 HP 1750 TBi combined with the exclusive Quadrifoglio Verde trim level, a legendary symbol which has competed on tracks all over the world. Only available on this engine type, this special version is distinguished by its sporty lowered ride height (15 mm lower at the front and 10 mm at the rear), 17" wheels (18"as an option), an enhanced braking system with calipers painted Alfa red, as well as unique interiors which include sporty leather and microfibre upholstery. All designed to guarantee the best in driving pleasure and segment-leading active and passive safety. Fuel consumption is also low considering the power level of this engine. The Quadrifoglio Verde is thus reinterpreted with a modern touch, combining the utmost driving pleasure with greater environmental awareness for an eco-conscious and environmentally-friendly sportiness.
In detail, the 1750 turbo petrol engine boasts advanced technical solutions including direct fuel injection, dual continuous variable valve timing, a turbocharger and a revolutionary scavenging control system that gets rid of any turbo lag. The resulting performance is comparable to - or better than - that of many 3 litre engines while still delivering fuel consumption typical of a compact four cylinder unit. It is worth noting that the specific power of 134 HP/litre represents the highest ever achieved by an Alfa Romeo production engine. The specific torque, amounting to 195 Nm/litre, is also the highest of all petrol engines in this category, while the maximum torque of 340 Nm, reached at just 1900 rpm, is excellent by any standards.
Visitors to the stand can also admire a Giulietta equipped with Blue&Me-TomTom, the only fully integrated portable info-entertainment system that, in addition to map navigation, can be used by means of an up-to-date colour touch screen plus steering wheel and voice commands to manage the telephone, navigation and all information needed while driving, enhancing and exploiting Blue&Me features and ensuring maximum driving safety.

MiTo sportiness becomes even more eco-friendly

The spotlights will also be focused on the Alfa Romeo MiTo, which will be represented at the Paris Show by two cars with a Distinctive trim level. The first vehicle is equipped with a 135 HP 1.4 MultiAir turbo petrol combined with an Alfa TCT automatic transmission with dry twin clutch and the Start&Stop system that temporarily turns off the engine during stops. This Alfa Romeo MiTo offers outstanding performance (7.1 l/100 km over an urban cycle, 126 g/km of CO2 and 8.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h), a result that is even better than the same engine with a manual gearbox (the values are 7.4 l/100 km, 129 g/km and 8.4 seconds). It should be emphasised that the MiTo was the first car to offer the revolutionary MultiAir engine and also to combine the 135 HP 1.4 MultiAir turbo petrol with the Alfa TCT transmission and Start&Stop system.
The second Alfa Romeo MiTo on the stand is equipped with a 95 HP 1.3 MultiJet engine in the ECO version. This may be distinguished from the same engine in the range by its optimised fuel consumption, achieved by special engine tuning and gear ratios. This gives rise to a reduction in fuel consumption (from 4.3 to 4.0 l/100 km over a combined cycle) and CO2 emissions (from 112 to 104 g/km). The performance levels are unchanged and remain among the best in the category: 180 km/h top speed and 11.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
Both cars on show offer sophisticated leather upholstery, the Premium Pack (steering wheel controls, front armrest with compartment, dual zone automatic climate control, parking sensors and Cruise Control) and the Sport Pack (spoiler, sport rear bumper, fog lights, sports instrument panel and 18" wheels for the 135 HP 1.4 MultiAir and 17" wheels for the 95 HP 1.3 MultiJet ECO). The info-telematic equipment on board the two MiTo cars is different: the 1.4 MultiAir version is equipped with the Blue&Me system and RadioNav satellite navigation system that constitutes the new generation of entertainment and satellite navigation developed by Magneti Marelli for Alfa Romeo. The system incorporates a satellite navigation system, radio with dual tuner, one dedicated to traffic information reception (TMC), the CD MP3 player and European maps loaded onto a SD card that speeds up data access and route calculation times. To guarantee the greater sharpness and definition of images, it is equipped with a high-definition 6.5 inch colour display. Visitors to the motor show can admire on the second MiTo on show the Blue&Me-TomTom, the latest development of the Blue&Me system. This is a fully integrated system that allows you to manage telephone, navigation and all necessary driving information functions on a practical colour touch-screen. The device is the result of a partnership between Fiat Group Automobiles and TomTom, the European leader in portable navigation systems, and integrates with the car's other systems by means of the Blue&Me system.

Alfa Romeo 159 introduces the MY 2011 and the new 136 HP Diesel 2.0 JTDM-2 engine

The stand also features an Alfa Romeo 159 Model Year 2011. The model (saloon and Sportwagon) has recently undergone a facelift in its interior styling and has been enhanced by option packages that ensure customers a wide range of personalisation alternatives and a wealth of content. Visitors can admire a Sportwagon in the exclusive "Rosso Competizione" livery and equipped with the new 136 HP 2.0 JTDM engine (Euro 5). This new engine complements the Euro 5 diesel range for the 159 and will be positioned in the most important diesel power band within segment D in Europe. This power unit is in fact able to achieve a compromise between the needs of private customers who seek a lively yet frugal car and those of fleet customers who are concerned with running costs but do not wish to neglect comfort and driving flexibility over long distances.
The car on show is equipped with a TI Pack that adds a sporty flavour with its long list of features. In detail, the TI Pack customises the Alfa Romeo 159 exteriors with 18" "turbine" design alloy wheels (a 19" spoked design is available as an option, as on the car exhibited), low sports ride, side skirts and oversized red brake calipers. A very lively car, therefore, with exceptional roadholding. Inside, the TI environment is recognisable from the wraparound seats trimmed in black leather and Alcantara with red profiles (as an option, the sports seats may be fully trimmed in black or natural leather), sports pedal unit in aluminium and a kick plate with the TI logo, sports steering wheel in leather with radio controls, gear lever knob and handbrake lever trimmed in leather with red stitching, Blue&Me system and sports instruments. For an innovative, hi-tech look, the car on show also features new carbon fibre inserts (an option) on the central console and steering wheel.
Last but not least, brochures and customised totems at the stand will introduce visitors to the products of FGA Capital, a joint venture set up between Fiat Group Automobiles and Crédit Agricole that specialises in the automotive sector. The finance company operates within Italy and across Europe with a single mission: supporting the sales of all Fiat Group Automobiles and Chrysler brand vehicles by offering innovative financial products with high added value services dedicated to the dealership network, private customers and companies.
