The Hungaroring track located near the capital city of Hungary, Budapest, is worldwide renowned for being the first F1 circuit to have been inaugurated in a comunist country back in 1986. Its popularity then grew constantly as years passed and more fans from the Eastern and Central Europe regions as well as tourists chose it among their top priority destinations for witnessing high class motorsporting action. Speaking of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, the Hungarian tenure has always been one of those races that best suited the British team, as its drivers achieved more than a quarter of the grands prix held there. Even though the overall architecture invites to a rather technical and slightly slow-speed approach by the racers due to the narrow tarmac surface and the very few straight lines, both McLaren-Mercedes drivers put on a beautiful performance yesterday during the two major practice runs. Lewis topped the time sheets in both sessions whereas Jenson took his MP4-26-04 home on 5th and 3rd, respectively. The tough work the engineers and mechanics delivered and the new updates brought to the single-seaters showed that McLaren is in a very fit shape for scoring great results ahead of today's qualifyings and Sunday's race.
After the last free practice round programmed during Saturday morning, RBR's Sebastian Vettel was 1st, with Jenson finishing 3rd and Lewis 7th.
